Barot Valley Mandi in India
Barot Valley is a breathtaking beautiful small village situated at Mandi District in the north Indian state of Himachal Pradesh at an altitude of 6,000 feet above sea level. This valley is surrounded by the Dhauladhar range of the Himalayas. It is also known as a“trekker’s paradise”. It was originally developed in 1920 for Shanan Hydel Project over the Uhl River. It is just 65 km away from Mandi and the road to Barot gets branched off at Jogindernagar from where a distance of travel remains up to 40 Km. This valley has a range of outdoor activities, including a trout breeding center from where fish are released into the Uhl River and a 30 km section of the river is used for angling. Barot valley is the gateway to the Nargu Wildlife Sanctuary which lies across the Uhl River. This Wildlife Sanctuary is home to several spices of animals like monal, black bear, and ghoral. The nearest bus stand is at Jogindernagar which is well connected by public transport. The nearest Airport from Barot is at Kullu Manali Airport, from there it is approximately 3.5 hours drive. Whereas The nearest Railway Station is at Jogindernagar, from there it is about 2 hours drive. Tourists can hire a car or take public transport to reach a beautiful valley.

Tourists can visit this valley at any point of time round the year except monsoon season between July to August as we receive heavy rainfall during that time because of the dense forest around the valley. This place does have pleasant weather, neither too warm in summer nor too cold in winter.
